Chemical peels are a quick way to improve the skin's appearance by reducing the presence of fine lines, wrinkles, and blemishes. By removing superficial layers of skin, smoother, clearer, younger-looking skin can shine through.

Available in a wide variety of strengths and formulas, chemical peels can be superficial, mild, medium-depth, or deep, and can address acne, acne scarring, melasma, aging skin, sun damage, in addition to a laundry list of other skin imperfections.

At Newtown MediSpa our team of licensed nurse aestheticians, under the direction of board-certified Physician Assistant Debra Sullivan PA-C, use their expertise to customize facial peels to address your specific concerns.

Our Chemical Peels

Chemical peels vary in strength and the right peel for you will depend on your aesthetic goals and the quality and tone of your skin. Peels remove dead skin cells and stimulate regeneration to clear pores and give your skin a fresh, dewy appearance. Combined with an at-home skincare regimen tailored to your skin type, periodic chemical peels can ensure your skin remains nourished and refreshed year-round.

We provide you with detailed skin care instructions to following your peel treatment.

Before and After Peels

Choosing the Right Practice

Our practice has achieved Diamond status from Allergan, the maker of Botox, Juvederm, and Kybella products, ranking us in the 79th (Top 100) of providers nationwide, which is based on the volume of Allergan products used. This means our injectors have an extremely high level of experience using these products, and that we have earned a reputation as a trusted provider.

Facial aesthetics is truly an art. Your provider needs more than the educational knowledge of how to inject. They need the artistic ability to know where to inject. As a result, your treatment will not only be delivered by some of the most skilled practitioners around, it will also be done in a soothing and safe environment, where patients come first.

Our mission is to strive for the highest level of integrity for our patients to make well-informed decisions about their treatments, with safety and superior outcome as our first priority. Click here to read more about our patient education mission Being Botox Smart.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the appointment and what should I expect?

The complete treatment is expected to take 45 minutes, which includes ample time to address any questions you may have, and a discussion on your post-peel care. The actual application procedure is approximately 20 minutes. Tolerance to the procedure varies from patient to patient. Tingling or burning sensations are normal and expected reactions. A handheld fan can be used during the procedure to minimize discomfort, which usually subsides in a few minutes.

What do Chemical Peels do?

Chemical peeling is a procedure that aims to accelerate skin exfoliation by the use of chemical substances resulting in renewed, healthier looking skin and more uniform complexion.

Who can benefit from a SkinMedica Peel?

SkinMedica peels address the visible skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Peels also address skin tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes. SkinMedica offers a range of different strength chemical peels that licensed medical professionals can select to provide the optimum treatment for their patients.

How do I prepare for my peel?

Any procedure or products that may increase skin sensitivity should be avoided before your Peel treatment. Ask your provider or skin care specialist for details. Click here to see the complete Pre and Post Procedure instructions.

What will my skin look like after the peel?

A Peel can leave a yellowish tinge on the skin which is expected to last no longer than 2-3 hours. Mild to moderate redness is expected after any type of chemical peel procedure. The extent of redness varies from patient to patient. The face may appear redder than usual for some time after the treatment and completely resolves after the peeling is complete.

Will I peel after the treatment?

It all depends on which SkinMedica Peel you receive. Visible peeling is usually seen with the Vitalize and Rejuvenize Peels. Your skin care professional will provide you with in-depth post-procedure instructions. Your post-peel regimen will include Sensitive Skin Cleanser or Facial Cleanser, a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type, and Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30+.

How many treatments will I need?

Multiple treatments may be required to achieve desired results. The number of treatments is based on initial level of skin damage, and can vary from 2 to 6. The effect of the peel is cumulative and results are favorable when the peels are used in conjunction with SkinMedica daily product regimen.
