IPL PHOTOFACIAL

Get smoother, healthier looking skin with an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment.

From nothing more than light, you can expect skin that looks and feels healthier. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments deliver short bursts of high-intensity light energy below the skin’s surface. This light energy helps to damage the melanin (skin pigmentation) responsible for causing age spots and other skin discolorations. IPL can also address the damaged blood vessels that cause visible broken capillaries and help boost the natural collagen production in the skin. Thanks to the various wavelength settings and adapters available for this treatment, we can fine-tune your IPL treatment to your specific needs and desired results, and can even treat multiple conditions in a single sessions.

What to expect at your treatment

As IPL treatments are gentle by nature. You can return to daily activities immediately after your treatment, however, you may have some mild redness for a day and brown spots will appear somewhat darker for a few days before flaking off. Your nurse will determine the number of treatments you will need after a full assessment of your skin. For the best results, we recommend a series of up to 4 IPL treatments. Within months, you will notice a more youthful complexion and smoother skin.

If considering an IPL Photofacial, it is important to stay out of the sun before and after treatment. Those who have recently been tanning are not candidates for this treatment. We always recommend using a broad spectrum sunblock with an SPF of 30 or more. Please discontinue the use of antibiotics, Hydroquinone, Retin-A or bleaching cream, at least 7-10 days prior to treatment. These medications and products will cause an increased sensitivity to light energy. If you have a history of melanoma or have active skin infections are not candidates for IPL.

During your free consultation, our registered nurse specialists will evaluate your unique needs and explain the procedure in detail. You will have the opportunity to view before and after photos so that you will know what to expect from the treatment. After your treatment, your nurse will instruct you on the best techniques to care for your skin to maintain your new healthy look.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the appointment?

IPL treatments can be completed between 45 minutes to one hour, for a full treatment.

Is an IPL treatment safe?

Yes, it is. When performed correctly by a certified, experienced technician, IPL Photofacial therapy is both safe and effective.

As a professional medical spa, we will not perform any procedures without your complete medical history, your current health condition, and any potential you may have for complications. Additionally, we provide all clients with protective eyewear that must be worn during treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

The ideal number of treatments will depend upon your skin and the issues you wish to address. Most patients will need 2 to 5 treatments.

What are the benefits of IPL?

IPL Photofacial treatments require no anesthetic and they involve little or no downtime. As few as one or two treatments can reduce spots, smooth uneven pigmentation, help repair broken facial capillaries and veins, and reduce the redness associated with rosacea. Additional treatments will continue to improve tone, texture, and stimulate the dermis to produce more collagen.

Does an IPL treatment hurt?

Most clients refer IPL to the gentle snap of an elastic band against the skin. Others experience it as a very short pinprick. While no anesthetic is required, we do cool the skin, which helps to minimize any discomfort.

Is there any side-effect of this treatment?

By definition, IPL therapy involves short, intense pulses of light being delivered to the skin. As a result, you may experience small raised bumps and redness in the treatment area shortly after your treatment. This will subside in a few days and is no cause for alarm.
