Dermal Fillers

As we age, our bodies don’t produce collagen and elastin like they used to, which leads to facial volume loss, giving us a sunken and tired appearance. With the use of Dermal Fillers, we can create a more youthful appearance by providing hydration, support, and structure to those areas suffering from volume loss, giving you immediate results that enhance your natural beauty. Whether you're looking for a subtle lift or would like to reverse the signs of aging, we provide the best dermal and facial fillers Fairfield County has to offer.

At Newtown MediSpa, one of our first priorities is patient education, allowing you to know everything about available treatments, products and how they can help you achieve your goals. This allows you to make an informed decision regarding your treatment. Learn more about our patient education mission in our Being Botox Smart Blog article.

Newtown MediSpa holds a Diamond level status with Allergan, the #1 manufacturer of injectables, and is in the Top 1% nationwide. We perform more injections than 99% of the practices across the nation.

About Dermal Fillers

Newtown MediSpa offers a variety of solutions to defy aging, making you look years younger. With the use of dermal fillers, your appearance can be subtly altered resulting in a natural, more youthful image. Our outstanding team will gladly guide you in choosing the best facial fillers to satisfy your needs and exceed your goals. After many years (and thousands of injections) in the cosmetic industry, our practitioners know how aging and volume loss affects each aspect of the face. This gives them the knowledge necessary to apply dermal fillers to restore youth without drastically altering your appearance. Here are some of the aesthetic issues Dermal Fillers can correct:

  • Loss of volume in the cheeks

  • Sagging jowls

  • Thin lips

  • Lack of definition in the jawline

  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)

  • Fine lines and wrinkles throughout the face

  • Vertical lines on the upper lip, also known as smoker’s lines

  • Bags under the eyes

In the past, we only had a few facial filler options. But now, there are facial fillers that target specific areas of your face, so if you desire to turn back the hands of time, here is a brief description of the type of Dermal Fillers we offer at Newtown MediSpa.

Juvéderm  Dermal Fillers

®

Juvéderm is the #1 selling collection of hyaluronic acid fillers in the US. Each product in the Juvéderm collection of fillers adds volume to a different area of the face to lift cheeks, smooth parentheses lines, or plump the lips. The results are subtle, long-lasting and help counteract the effects of aging.

Juvederm's main active ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid (HA), often referred to as nature’s moisturizer, and is a naturally occurring substance that delivers nutrients to the skin, helping the skin retain moisture and softness and adding volume.

The Juvéderm family of fillers includes Juvéderm Ultra XC, Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC, Voluma XC, Volbella XC, and Vollure XC. The XC indicates that each of the fillers includes a local anesthetic that provides extra comfort during the injections.

Like most cosmetic procedures, injecting dermal fillers is an art. It depends on the skill, expertise, experience, and finesse of the individual performing the treatment. Attention to detail and a clear understanding of what you want to achieve can make all the difference. Most patients are thrilled with their results and plan to maintain them with follow-up procedures. For a clinical, or statistical evaluation of Juvederm, Drugs.com’s website contains information on clinical trials that demonstrated improvements of up to 90% after one treatment.

Juvéderm XC is an easy, viable choice that offers effective lip enhancement, contouring and shaping options and addresses mild or moderate wrinkles, folds, creases or sunken scars that may be marring your skin. Between the Juvéderm Ultra, Juvéderm Ultra Plus and XC formulations, we can treat most mild or moderate skin wrinkles and deep scars. Juvéderm XC is manufactured using HYLACROSS™ technology and is infused with lidocaine for improved comfort and can last up to 12 months.

Many of our patients want fuller lips and Juvederm Volbella delivers! Volbella is a soft, smooth gel that subtly enhances the lips and it's also approved by the FDA to soften the fine lines that develop around the mouth. It's the latest filler in the Juvéderm family of products available in the U.S., and it's just one more way our injectors can work with you to create beautiful, natural results. This product is also infused with lidocaine for improved comfort and can last up to 12 months.

Juvederm Vollure features the same advanced technology used in Voluma, which extends the effectiveness of the filler for up to 18 months. Vollure is specifically formulated to address nasolabial folds, the wrinkles that extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth and which happen to be the most common area for using fillers.

Juvéderm Voluma XC is the first filler approved by the FDA to instantly add volume to the cheek area, resulting in a subtle lift. Voluma XC is made of Hyaluronic acid and lidocaine, and it's the only Juvéderm filler that can last up to 2 years. Among other dermal fillers, Juvéderm Voluma XC has the most minimal downtime. You should be able to resume your normal activities 24 hours after the procedure, and the side effects are moderate that generally last 2 to 4 weeks.

Restylane  Dermal Fillers

®

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores fullness to the skin. It is ideal for correcting moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, and for sculpting lips, cheeks, and chin. Restylane enhances your natural look by restoring your skin's volume, creating softness and revitalizing your appearance making you look years younger.

Restylane is made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Over time, the natural fat that surrounds the cheeks begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles and a reduction of volume. Restylane Lyft is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face. Through nonsurgical injections, Restylane Lyft is specifically designed to add fullness to the cheeks and midface area, which can result in a more natural-looking, youthful appearance, lasting from 12 to 14 months.

As we age, our skin loses elasticity and the lines that run from the sides of the nose toward the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds) and the lines that run from the corner of your mouth toward the chin (marionette lines) become more pronounced. Both Restylane Refyne and Defyne is crafted with XpresHAn TechnologyTM to correct these deepened lines. The unique cross-linking of the gel in these fillers is also designed to help support your facial expressions—for natural-looking results that can last up to 12 months.

The main difference between the two is that Restylane Refyne treats mild to moderate lines and wrinkles, while Restylane Defyne is used to treat moderate to severe smile lines.

Before and After Dermal Fillers

Choosing the Right Practice

Our practice has achieved Diamond status from Allergan, the maker of Botox, Juvederm, and Kybella products, ranking us in the Top 1% of providers nationwide, which is based on the volume of Allergan products used. This means our injectors have an extremely high level of experience using these products, and that we have earned a reputation as a trusted provider.

Facial aesthetics is truly an art. Your provider needs more than the educational knowledge of how to inject. They need the artistic ability to know where to inject. As a result, your treatment will not only be delivered by some of the most skilled practitioners around, it will also be done in a soothing and safe environment, where patients come first.

Our mission is to strive for the highest level of integrity for our patients to make well-informed decisions about their treatments, with safety and superior outcome as our first priority. Click here to read more about our patient education mission Being Botox Smart.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the appointment?

Depending on the areas being treated and the number of syringes, Dermal Filler injections can be completed between 45 minutes to one hour.

How do dermal filler treatments work?

Due to the properties of hyaluronic acid, once injected an instant volumizing effect can be seen, giving volume to the skin and longer-term binding with water increasing hydration. Unwanted folds and wrinkles can be “plumped up” to reduce their appearance, resulting in a smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

When will I see results?

The results of a dermal filler procedure can be seen right away. The results do tend to improve for a few hours after treatment.

How long do the effects of a dermal filler treatment last?

One of the great advantages of dermal filler treatment is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. Duration depends on many factors, such as the area treated, individual’s skin type, skin condition lifestyle, and age. Generally, the effects can last up to 12 months, and depending on the type of filler can last up to 2 years.

Does a dermal filler treatment hurt?

Some clients may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. The lips are extremely sensitive and as such cause most discomfort. At Newtown MediSpa, the dermal fillers we use contain lidocaine, however, we also apply a topical numbing cream to make the treatment more comfortable for you.

Can my treatment be reversed?

Yes, HA (Hyaluronic Acid) dermal fillers are reversible, in case you are not happy with the end result.

Are there any risks with dermal fillers?

Product-related reactions are rare. There are some injection-related reactions which may occur after any injection including redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site. After lip enhancement, some swelling is likely for a short period. With any injection, you may encounter bruising and injection-site redness.
